Playing our part in maritime safety
We are lucky enough to be based in the beautiful city of Plymouth which will be home to the UK’s first National Marine Park . The city has received a major cash injection from the National Lottery which aims to protect the area and all its treasures. This is fantastic news for the development of Plymouth’s waterfront and builds on its amazing maritime history.
Our own personal history is based in Plymouth and we are proud to work with the maritime, diving and offshore industries in delivering our training courses and medicals.
Our training subsidiary DDRC Professional Services is an approved training provider for the following STCW training courses. These are essential for the maritime community using the seas around Plymouth both for recreationl and professionally.
Emergency First Aid: This one day course will equip students with the skills and knowledge to be able to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency at sea.
Proficiency in Medical First Aid: A 4 day course designed for seafarers who are designated to provide medical first aid on board ship in accordance with STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.
Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Care: A 5 day course. The Master and any worker delegated to take charge of medical care on board vessels, must hold a recognised Proficiency in Medical Care or Updated Proficiency in Medical Care Certificate, issued within the last five years. (A refresher is required every five years.)
Certificate of Proficiency in Medical Care Refresher: This is a 3 day course.
Over the many years of teaching the MCA/STCW courses we have students from all over the world and from a variety of backgrounds. It is always fascinating to learn more about student’s occupations and experiences and we offer everyone a high level of teaching with excellent facilities, free on site parking and good quality local accommodation. On the higher level courses our diving doctors bring their knowledge and expertise to the practical elements.
Student feedback:
Great instruction especially the day with the doctors. Enjoyed the course throughout. Opportunity to use a wide variety of different equipment. A very well constructed course, appropriately structured experience. Excellent. The facility was recommended to me by 2 other colleagues. I would recommend the same to others in future. First time at DDRC, had a great experience. Get a biscuit barrel! Good and professional training, will be coming back in 5 years. |
