Summary
e-ILS is a flexible way of learning skills in Immediate Life Support, and blends e-learning with face-to-face workshops. An e-ILS course provides a variety of skills, from managing a deteriorating patient, identifying causes and treating cardiac arrest, to improving abilities as both a team member and leader. Please be aware that these courses will only run if the minimum number of registrants has been met. Please contact training@ddrc.org if you have any queries.
Description
e-ILS was launched in 2019 and uses the same core curriculum as ILS, which was launched in 2002 and is Resuscitation Council UK’s most attended course.
ILS certification is recognised in the UK, EU and Australia.
During the course, you will develop the skills to:
- identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest;
- recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach;
- undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (manual and /or AED) and simple airway manoeuvres;
- utilise non-technical skills to facilitate team leadership and effective team membership.
The e-ILS course combines half a day of e-learning with half a day of face-to-face learning in one of our many Course Centres.
We use our evidence-based guidelines and cutting-edge research to create our courses. Courses are then delivered by members of our dedicated and highly skilled Instructor base. This guarantees that our courses are uniform, and the content remains the same across all our Course Centres.
Pre-course preparation:
Before the course, you will be registered on the Resuscitation Council's Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access pre-course course modules that will prepare you for your face-to-face session (approximately 3 hours in total), and you will be asked to complete a pre-course multiple choice question (MCQ) paper.
You will receive your course manual at least two weeks before the course. Candidates are expected to read the manual in preparation for the course.
Programme:
Candidates must complete the e-learning in their own time before the face-to-face session. The face-to-face session focusses on skill stations and cardiac arrest simulations (CASTeach).
Assessment:
Assessment is continuous throughout the course and is guided by the assessment forms provided for each core skill. Copies of the assessment forms should be forwarded to the Candidate with their manual.
CPD:
This course is recognised as continuing professional development (CPD) by the Medical, Dental and Nursing Royal Colleges and Health Care Professional Council. Please contact your registering body for further information.
This course can also be run as a full day ILS course, with no e-learning. Please see here for details - https://www.ddrc.org/training/courses/53-immediate-life-support/region-UK/
