Mental Health Awareness Week

13 – 19 May 2024 is Mental Health Awareness Week and at DDRC we like to make sure our staff have the support they need if and when they need it. We have an open door policy to Managers which are willing to talk through any issues or concerns and supportive staff who look out for each other.

A small but enthusiastic team meet to promote emotional wellbeing through social events, promotional materials and regular walks and exercises suitable at your desk. DDRC has a restful courtyard in which to get fresh air and welcoming staff rooms encouraging everyone to get together and have the occasional ‘share a plate’ buffet.

Ideas shared with staff this week have been National Trusts ‘Walking in Devon’ and Forage for Food & Medicine Day that our Communications Manager, Kathryn Epps, has been on recently. She said: “This truly was an inspirational day learning about nature’s abundance of edible and medicinal herbs, flowers and tree blossom. It is rare to be able to get right off the beaten track and the Sharpham Estate offered a beautiful and calming environment full of bird song. Admittedly the good weather helped but I came away knowing more and feeling rested.”
