The annual Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) conference is the leading international gathering of physicians, researchers and associates within the hyperbaric industry of diving and wound care world-wide. It provides the opportunity for exchange of ideas, treatments, and research amongst delegates enabling new contacts to be made.
This year our Medical Director Dr Clair Ashford and our researcher Marguerite St Leger Dowse attended the meeting to present some of the results of our ‘Health of Divers’ project, dealing with ear health and eustachian tube dysfunction.
The results , which were well received, were presented at the Associates meeting and in poster format to the general Meeting.
Clair took the opportunity to meet many delegates from the USA and the Pacific Rim including Tony Turner from the Wesley Chamber, Queensland, Australia (with whom DDRC Healthcare have been collaborating with regarding health of divers), Caroline Fife (past president of UHMS) and Greg Thomas from Fink Engineering, Queensland, Australia.
The Meeting concluded with a party, before the long trip back to Devon!
