DDRC Healthcare is proud to present a new Dive Accident Responder Course (DARC) for 2022. Would you know what to do if you were involved in a diving incident? Have you ever seen a hyperbaric chamber? This 1 day course will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to manage an incident and what to expect if you are involved.
Practical training: Basic Life Support (BLS) with emphasis on dealing with a diving casualty and oxygen administration.
Lectures: on Decompression Illness (DCI) - avoiding it, recognising it, dealing with it and real life case studies of diving accidents.
Sea Survival Scenarios: Presentations by one or more of the following: RNLI, Coastguard, Search & Rescue.
Chamber Orientation: Take a look inside a hyperbaric chamber, see how it is 'driven' by our experienced Chamber Operators and participate in a 'real-life' scenario (this does NOT involve a dive).
Due to the ongoing pandemic, the 2022 DARC course will follow a slightly different format from previous years. Instead of an actual chamber dive, which we are unable to do whilst maintaining social distancing, participants will instead be able to see the chamber from a patients perspective, including a 'real-life' scenario. You will be able to look inside to see the equipment, experience the size and hear as the chamber is decompressed.
The other sessions will be the same as previous years and will build on the skills and knowledge in dealing with a diving incident.
There will be free parking on site for the day. Please ensure you register your vehicle at Reception on arrival and place the issued permit clearly on display.
Dress code for the day is casual, although please ensure you wear appropriate attire for practical sessions.
Covid-19 Changes and Considerations
Unfortunately we are still in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and as such, it has been necessary to make further changes to the day, as follows:
We will no longer be providing lunch and refreshments. Instead, we invite you to bring your own for the day.
Face masks must be worn throughout the day.
We politely request that all participants carry out a lateral flow test on the morning of the event.
Please also be aware that the day may be modified at short notice, or even cancelled if necessary. Should the day be cancelled, or if you are unable to attend due to Covid-19 we will of course offer a full refund.
A DDRC certificate of Attendance will be issued.
No experience or pre-requisites are required.
Suitable for persons 14 years and older.
