John Adamson

Born in Sunderland in 1955, John started his working life as a Nursing Cadet. However, realising he wanted to travel as well as be in the caring profession, he became a Medical Assistant in the Royal Navy, with a career lasting 20 years.

After leaving the Royal Navy, John joined Derriford Hospital in 1995 and qualified as an RGN, gaining a Diploma in Health Studies.  Following 4 years at Derriford, he left to work as a Research Nurse at Phase1 Clinical Trials and was soon promoted to Study Manager/Coordinator running large Pharmacokinetic studies.

John completed his Offshore Medic’s course in 2005. Following work on a Drilling Rig in the Danish sector as a Medic/Admin, he then moved on to a Flotel where he furthered his experience

John then trained as a Diver Medic Technician and worked for Acergy and Subsea7 on their Dive Support Vessels. During this time, John was responsible for the health and safety of 100 crew, plus 12-18 Saturation Divers.

John was appointed as Manager of Professional Services UK Operations in January 2013 and is responsible for all HSE Offshore and Maritime courses as well as the day to day running of the training department.
