A two day weekend course in expedition dive medicine to prepare medics going on marine expeditions.

Description

DDRC Healthcare offers 24/7 diving and hyperbaric medical emergency services, diver health research and educational activities, as well as medical training, primarily for divers, offshore workers and seafarers.

This course will be invaluable for medics going abroad to feel more confident and should lead to improved medical care and safety of divers in remote environments. It is designed primarily for doctors, nurses, paramedics and other allied health professionals who will be providing medical support for divers on expeditions.

Our team of hyperbaric & diving doctors will be delivering a course with a mixture of practical and theoretical elements. With a chance to see how diving accidents are managed in the UK and how this may apply to a medic in a remote setting.

Some of the key topics covered include:

  • Basic physics and physiology of diving
  • Fitness to dive
  • History examination and treatment of divers
  • Diving related illnesses
  • Hypothermia and Hyperthermia
  • Communication and evacuation
  • Other common complaints you may come across in a marine environment
