Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Nurse
15-30 hours per week
Salary will be circa £30,000 per annum pro rata dependent upon experience and skills.
- Are you looking for a new challenge in a unique healthcare setting?
- Would you like to work in a small team of doctors, nurses and chamber technicians treating a varied range of medical problems, with outstanding patient satisfaction?
- Would you like to develop skills in diving and hyperbaric medicine, teaching or research?
We are recruiting a nurse to join our team, working in a small team at our centre in Plymouth. DDRC is a charity and leading hyperbaric centre, commissioned by the NHS to treat divers with decompression illness. We also use hyperbaric oxygen to treat a diverse range of other diseases including arterial gas embolism, osteoradionecrosis and problem wounds. These patients are often complex and highly appreciative of the continuity of care that we provide, with our team treating daily for several months
In addition to funded training opportunities in hyperbaric medicine, the postholder would be encouraged to develop further skills. Possibilities for professional development include diving medicine, research, teaching, chamber operations, or other opportunities depending on the individual. You may want to be involved in teaching saturation divers and offshore yacht captains in pre-hospital skills or assisting with clinical trials for those recovering from radiotherapy, or train to operate a hyperbaric chamber. These are just a few of the possibilities available for the successful candidate.
Applicants must be NMC registered nurses (RNA/RN1) with demonstrable experience (at a minimum of Band 5 level) of at least one year. Previous or ongoing experience of diving, wound care and/or intensive care nursing would be advantageous but not essential. Candidates will need to pass an HSE diving medical and you will be required to support patients receiving hyperbaric treatment. The successful applicant will need to be able to work autonomously, be self-motivated and willing to take on a new challenge. Occasional work for treatments out of hours may be required
If you are keen to join our team then why not arrange a discussion with our Clinical Nurse Manager, Ali Bishop via info@ddrc.org and arrange a visit.
To complete the application process, please send this application form to ria.foxbrown@ddrc.org (HR Manager) with Nurse Vacancy in the subject line. You can send in a CV along with your application if you wish.
