DDRC Welsh Unit to move to Spire Hospital in Cardiff |
|
DDRC has been operating the South Wales Hyperbaric Medical Centre at St Josephs Hospital in Newport for the last two years; in that time the demand for the service has been increasing. The unit in Newport had one Monoplace (single occupant) chamber and this can no longer cope with the demand. Unfortunately the site in Newport was not big enough to allow another chamber to be installed necessitating a move to a larger facility.
The Spire Cardiff Hospital were able to offer a larger unit capable of supporting two Monoplace chambers which will allow DDRC to cope with the demand more effectively thus keeping patient waiting lists to an absolute minimum.
The new facility at Spires hospital in Pentwyn is a major step forward and provides DDRC with the opportunity to meet more of the demands of patients in south Wales.
It is hoped that the new centre will be ready to start taking patients in the near future. |
