Health of Divers and How Divers Seek Help and Advice for Signs and Symptoms of DCI are two research studies currently being conducted by The Diving Diseases Research Centre (DDRC) Plymouth.
The Impact of Scuba Diving on Cognitive Functioning
Scubastudy.org has been set up by a DDRC PhD student in association with the department of Psychology at the University of Plymouth. It has details about ongoing studies concerned with diver performance under hyperbaric pressure and diver questionnaires looking at differences between populations of recreational scuba divers.
Support totalling more than £400 000 has been agreed by Cancer Research UK and the Department of Health for a multicentre research trial. The primary goal of the trial is to test the effectiveness of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in restoring normal bowel function to patients who have received successful radiotherapy for their pelvic cancer, but who go on to suffer long term side effects from the radiotherapy.
