The report on the data from the 1998-2000 survey of scuba diving for disabled divers and divers with other conditions that may affect their diving
The issue of whether women are more susceptible to DCI than men has not been adequately addressed in the past. The relationship, if any, between the menstrual cycle and DCI has also yet to be formally established. This present project is seen as the vehicle by which this can be achieved. It is also a source of information of a kind not previously freely available within the British sport diving fraternity. It is hoped that the information gathered here may be of benefit to recreational diving organisations and groups and will contribute to improved education and training. The study is perceived as a platform from which to form the questions that need to be addressed and from which future studies can be formed.
Investigating the relationship between simulated depth, cognitive function and metacognitive awareness. This report describes a pilot study aimed at identifying the cognitive and metacognitive effects of simulated depth. The population studied were one hundred and three SCUBA divers recruited from the general diving population. The primary aim was to determine if people can tell when their performance is being affected by nitrogen narcosis. A secondary aim was to investigate demographic factors which may have affected an individual's ability to identify a change in their performance.
