Chamber Attendant / Operator Bank Staff

Closing date: 08/10/2024

DDRC Healthcare is a charity providing hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy, training and research in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine and associated fields. This post is based at the Hyperbaric Medical Centre in Plymouth. We provide high quality care for patients referred for elective and emergency HBO for conditions recognised as benefiting from HBO such as decompression illness (DCI), tissue damage secondary to radiotherapy and diabetic ulcers.

Post-holders will join as a ‘bank staff’ member of the Chamber Team, providing routine and emergency HBO therapy to patients on an ‘as and when’ basis. The hours available will be irregular. The Centre operates from Monday to Friday, 08.30 to 17.00, and once post-holders are suitably trained and experienced, they will be expected to join our on-call rota which operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Chamber Team members operate the chambers and support people using them. Applicants might be people with an interest in healthcare or caring roles, diving or from many other backgrounds. Training will be provided.

You will be required to achieve in-date accreditation to DDRC Healthcare standards. DDRC Healthcare staff will carry out the relevant training and assessment required.

Applicants must either have, or be willing to undertake, an HSE diving medical to ensure they are fit to ‘dive’ and carry out all the necessary duties. You must also be able to get to the Hyperbaric Medical Centre within 40 minutes, when on call.
