South Wales Hyperbaric Medical Centre

DDRC originally started operating the South Wales Hyperbaric Medical Centre from St Josephs Hospital in Newport. After two years demand for the service had increased to such a level the unit was forced to expand which meant looking for a new larger site. The Spire Cardiff Hospital were able to offer a much larger site capable of supporting two Monoplace chambers which has enabled DDRC to meet increasing demand more effectively and keep patient waiting lists to a minimum. The new facility at Spire Cardiff Hospital in Pentwyn is a major step forward for patients needing hyperbaric oxygen therapy in South Wales.

Once you have been referred to our South Wales unit by your doctor or consultant we will arrange your treatment schedule and if necessary sort out any accommodation requirements. An initial appointment will be arranged and on arrival at the South Wales centre you will met by the Clinical Nurse Manager or another member of our highly trained staff who will fully explain the treatment process. This appointment will take about an hour and may involve some pre-treatment tests to ensure you are well enough for the therapy. Following your initial appointment the team will confirm the dates and times of your subsequent treatments.

All referrals are initially handled through our Plymouth centre, please contact us if you need further information.
