We are studying the use of absorbent bordered dressings
DDRC Wound Care is participating in a prospective study of the use of an absorbent bordered dressing in the treatment of moderate to heavily exuding wounds. We are recruiting people with leg ulcers who are free from infection, have less than 20% slough (yellow tissue) or eschar (black tissue) to the wound and no evidence of arterial ulceration. People in compression can also be enrolled.
The dressing being trialled will be applied for 4 weeks or until the exudate reduces to an extent that another dressing is indicated. Participants will be seen by our nursing team at DDRC Wound Care throughout that time and they may qualify for some assistance in the cost of travelling to the centre. Following completion of the patient’s participation in the study, they will be discharged back to the care of their usual nursing team with a handover of care provided.
