Plymouth-Dakar Challenge PDF Print E-mail

DDRC are very grateful to two people; Shelly Pender and Neville Pittman who will be driving to Timbuctu in an car costing £100 to raise money for DDRC and the Fishermans Mission as part of the plymouth-dakar challenge. The route will take them through France, Spain, Morocco, the western Sahara, Mauritania, into Mali and across to Timbuctu.

Shelly Pender one of the drivers is the ex-wife of Kevin Pender who was treated for a problem wound at DDRC in 2005. Shelly chose DDRC as her nominated charity because she was so impressed by the work of the centre when Kevin was treated.

As well as any monetary donations, if anyone has any old camping gear they could donate for them to use on the way it will be gratefully received.
All equipment will be donated to the rotary club in Mali and auctioned off along with the car and all proceeds given to local charities in Mali.
Equipment needed includes:
Air beds, camping cooker, saucepan, crockery, camping fridge, dried or tinned foods, water containers. Also any old or unwanted mobile phones and chargers, medical and educational supplies will be also gratefully received for goodwill gestures on the way.
