On Monday 27th October, DDRC had a very special visitor. Lily Seymour, aged 14 from Portland Dorset, is the niece of Chris Manning and her uncle was treated for a severe case of the decompression illness known as the bends last year. Ever since visiting her uncle whilst he was a patient at DDRC, Lily has been an avid supporter of the charity and decided that she wanted to raise funds to aid the work of the Hyperbaric Medical Centre that helped her uncle recover from his illness.
Lily is a pupil of The Royal Manor Arts College and made cakes to sell at her school, held a raffle at a school dance show with prizes donated by Lily and her form tutor, Fran Randell, and Lily also set up a nail art stall at a Ladies Night for which she raised £50. Lily helped to raise a total of £137.40 for The Diving Diseases Research Centre. To help promote the charity and explain the work that DDRC does, Lily spoke at an assembly at her school to educate her fellow pupils.
Lily presented her cheque to the Chairman of The Friends of DDRC, Chris Richman, in front of the Krug chamber at DDRC. The staff were delighted to see Chris Manning who accompanied Lily during her visit, looking so well.
A big Thank you! to Lily for all her fundraising efforts.
