The Health and Safety Commission is responsible for health and safety regulation in Great Britain. The Health and Safety Executive and local government are the enforcing authorities who work in support of the Commission.
International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)
IMCA is the international trade association representing offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies. IMCA promotes improvements in quality, health, safety, and environmental and technical standards through the publication of guidance and information notes, codes of practice, and by other appropriate means. Members also receive regular briefing notes on technical issues, regulatory developments, and news and events appropriate to own activities.
Association of Diving Contractors (ADC)
The Association of Diving Contractors (ADC) was set up as a separate organisation in January 1995 to represent those diving contractors who work inland and inshore in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Prior to that date the organisation had existed as the inland / inshore section of the Association of Offshore Diving Contractors (AODC).
National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT)
The National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) was formed in 1991 and introduced a certification program for all technologists working in the field as well as an "approved" introductory training course for those desiring to enter the field.

British Diving Safety Group (BDSG)
The British Diving Safety Group (BDSG) was formed in 2002 to promote safe diving practices amongst the British sport diving community. Currently chaired by the RNLI, the group has a broad representation, with all of the UK diver training agencies, the HSE and the MCA having a seat at the table.

For over 35 years, Our World-Underwater Scholarship Society (OWUSS) has offered a variety of internships and scholarships. Our goal is to foster the development of future leaders of the marine environment. We continue to believe that by investing in special young people, by exposing them to a broad array of activities in the underwater community and giving them opportunities to work with influential people who are leaders in aquatic disciplines, we are investing in the future of our oceans and lakes.
