DDRC Assistant Life Support Technicians (ALST) Course

The DDRC Assistant Life Support Technicians (ALST) training course is designed for entrants who wish to enter the IMCA Life Support Technician scheme.
Assistant Life Support Technicians assist the Life Support Technicians in carrying out the vital task of maintaining safe conditions for divers who are working under pressure during saturation diving operations.
The course combines both comprehensive theory and practical elements to prepare the candidate for work as an Assistant Life Support Technician.

Prerequisites/Entry Requirements

  • No prior knowledge or experience is needed, a reasonable standard of mathematics is required to pass the course and a basic knowledge of diving and physics would be helpful.

Course Duration

  • 5 days if taken immediately after a DDRC Diver Medic Technician Course or 10 days with prior arrangement and a minimum of four candidates.

Certification

  • On successful completion of the DDRC ALST course and examinations you will be issued with an approved IMCA certificate. Once you have logged a minimum of 2,400 panel hours as an Assistant Life Support Technician you will be eligible to sit the IMCA Life Support Technician exam.
