Information for professionals on the uses of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and how to access it for patients
Hyperbaric Medicine information for Professionals
Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) therapy is often used as an adjunct to other treatment such as surgery or antibiotics.
Patients can be referred for HBO by a Consultant who should write to the Medical Director, Dr Christine Penny, who will review the case and assess the appropriateness of offering HBO therapy. Further information on the patient referral and funding process is provided here.
Conditions for which HBO can be used at DDRC Healthcare are those which are approved by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) and European Committee for Hyperbaric Medicine (ECHM). We have also provided information on some conditions which we do not treat, due to a lack of evidence.
